19世紀末的愛丁堡，在一個極度寒冷的冬天，痛苦的孕婦找到被人稱作巫婆的瑪德蓮大夫（Marie Vincent 配音）。不久，一個孱弱的嬰兒降臨人間，但是這個小家伙的心都凍僵了，為此瑪德蓮幫他安裝了機械心臟。孩子的生母不告而別，瑪德蓮將其作為親生兒子撫養，并起名杰克（Mathias Malzieu 配音）。她告誡杰克不可以生氣，避免強烈的情緒起伏，尤其要避免陷入愛戀。小杰克一天天長大，在他十歲的那年他首度來到鎮上玩耍，并和命運中的天使邂逅。他的機械心臟出了故障， 冒出濃煙，他知道他戀愛了。從這一天起，杰克注定要踏上追尋愛情的征程…… 本片根據馬提亞斯·馬吉爾（Mathias Malzieu）的原著改編。

Willy Whistle's big dream is to become a guardian, but his curiosity always gets him into trouble.
